🔨Metalworking🔨

Metalworking works very similarly to Crafting but is a little bit more advanced. It requires a few extra steps and assumes you already have some basic experience. If you don’t know how to craft or gather resources yet, please review the Crafting and Gathering pages before continuing!

Before you begin forging items from metal, you need to gather the proper equipment and materials. You can craft all of these items using the appropriate Workbenches, or, if you prefer to skip the early crafting process, you can find them at the Mainstore:

  • Ores: The essential raw material. You will smelt these down to create molten metal.
  • Heat Source: A Campfire or a Stove is needed to smelt the ores.
  • Crucible: The perfect container for smelting ores. (Access its menu to find the “Smelt” button).
  • Anvil Mold: A mold used to cast your very first Anvil (requires molten Iron).
  • Ingot Mold: A stone mold used to shape molten metal into perfectly sized ingots.
  • Forge: A large oven that you will fill with coal or charcoal to heat up your solid ingots.
  • Coal or Charcoal: The required fuel for the Forge.
  • Anvil: Your main working station where you will forge all metal-based items.
  • Hammer: The tool required to physically forge the metals on the Anvil.
  • Tongs: The tool required to safely manipulate hot ingots.

To forge items, you first need an Anvil. Here is how to make your workstation:

  1. Smelt the Ore: Light up your heat source and place the Crucible on top of it. Rez your raw Iron Ores on top of or next to the Crucible. Click the Crucible to access its menu, select “Smelt”, and pick the type of ore you rezzed. This will consume the ores and begin the smelting process. When it finishes, you will have a container full of molten metal.
  2. Fill the Mold: Bring the Crucible close to the Anvil Mold (or vice versa). Transfer the molten Iron into the mold. Check the menu to see how much more is needed to completely fill it, and repeat the smelting process if necessary.
  3. Cool and Break: Once the Anvil Mold is completely filled, let it rest and cool down. After the cooling process is finished, click the mold containing the cold metal to access its menu, and select the option to break the mold. You now have your Anvil! Place it close to your Forge to complete your setup.

Now that your workstation is set up, you can start making metal items and parts.

  1. Cast Ingots: Smelt more ores using the Crucible, but this time, transfer the molten metal into the Ingot Mold. Wait for it to cool down, then collect your finished Ingot.
  2. Heat the Ingot: Move the cold ingot into the Forge. Rez fuel (Coal/Charcoal) next to the Forge, click the Forge to fuel it, and light it up. Make sure you are wearing your Tongs, then click the Ingot and begin the heating process.
  3. Forge the Item: Once the ingot is hot, move it onto the Anvil. Click the Anvil to access its menu, select “Forge”, and choose the recipe you want to make. If you have all the required tools and materials, simply sit on the Anvil. The hot ingot will be consumed, your avatar will begin the forging animation, and when the timer finishes, you will receive your final item.

⚠️Keep in mind that some of the recipes on the Anvil only create metal parts and pieces. You will often need to take these forged parts to other Workbenches to finalize the complex items you are trying to build!
