– Farming –
The very first step is to make sure you own both a farming field and seeds. If you don’t, you can easily find everything at the Mainstore.
Each field is tied to a specific crop. For example, if you own a “Wheat Field,” you can only plant wheat in it, meaning you can’t use tomato seeds there for example. Make sure you have the fields you want and the correct seeds for them.
Rez the farming field and place it on your land, adjusting it to your preference. This is where you will plant your seeds and grow your crops.
Once your field is ready, click it to open its main menu. A popup will appear in the corner of your viewer. In this window, you can see all the field’s information and available options. Be sure to check the required level to use the field, the energy cost for working on it, and any required tools.
To begin, you need to prepare the soil. Click the “Prepare” button. You will notice the field’s status changes, along with its hover text and color.
The status should now be “Waiting for Worker.” During this stage, any FL user with permission can work on the field by simply sitting on it.
An animation will begin along with a timer visible in the hover text. Once it finishes, the field will move to the next step.
The status should now be “Ready to Plant,” which means the soil has been prepared successfully. Rez the correct type of seed next to the field, then click the field again and select “Plant” from the menu. If the correct seed is detected within range, you will be asked to confirm. Select “Confirm” to continue. The seed will be consumed and disappear.
The field’s status will return to “Waiting for Worker.” An FL user can now sit on it to complete the planting process.
After planting, the status will change to “Growing,” and the text color will update as well. Your crop is now growing, and you can check the remaining time in the hover text.
Next, you can water the field. Rez or move a container with water (or dirty water), such as a bucket or bowl, near the field. Click the container to open its menu and select “Transfer.” This will scan for nearby fields that need water or have capacity for more. Select the field you want to water and choose the amount to transfer.
Keep in mind that crops can grow without water. However, watering them will speed up the process.
Each unit of water lasts 1 hour. For example, if you transfer 10 units, it will last 10 hours. As long as the field has any water, the crop will grow twice as fast. So while water is not required, it is highly beneficial.
Once the growing process is complete, the hover text will turn green and the status will change to “Ready to Harvest.” During this stage, any FL user with permission can harvest the field by sitting on it. This will start the harvesting process, and once it is complete, you will receive XP and the crops you have grown.
