🔪Butchery🥩
Butchery is a sub-category of Cooking focused primarily on slaughtering and processing animals for their meat.
To get started, you will need the following:
- Butchery Table: The main station where you will work to harvest resources from animal bodies.
- Cleaver: The specific tool required to work at the Butchery Table.
- Animal Carcass: Either a Cow or a Pig. (Note: Chickens do not require a Cleaver or a Butchery Table; they can be processed on a standard Cutting Board instead).
Slaughtering Advice: When you slaughter an animal, your yield depends heavily on its age stage. If you slaughter an animal when it is too young, you will only receive a few limited resources. To get an entire carcass, you must let the animal mature. As a general rule, try to avoid slaughtering young animals! (To learn more about animal growth stages, check the Animals page).
- Prepare the Station: Attach your Cleaver and bring the carcass to the Butchery Table. Rez or move the carcass directly on top of the table.
- Start the Process: Click the table to access its menu, select “Butcher”, and choose the option that matches your specific carcass.
- Check Requirements: Ensure you meet all the requirements displayed in the menu.
- Begin Harvesting: The station will prompt you to sit. Once you sit, the carcass will be consumed, and the butchering animation and timer will begin.
⚠️ Important Warning: Do not stand up while the timer is running! If you interrupt the process before it finishes, you will completely lose the body and all of its loot.
Once the timer finishes, you will receive XP and all the harvested animal parts, which you can then take to your Cooking stations to prepare a variety of recipes.
You will also notice the table becomes dirty and bloody. This is purely a visual effect! You can click the table to clean it if you like, but leaving it dirty has no negative impact on your gameplay or future butchering.
