– System Setup –
The first step is to ensure you have the System set up and running. If you don’t have it yet, you can visit the Mainstore and grab it for free. It comes with a setup notecard to help you get started (it’s very simple and quick).
Now that you have the System attached and running, you will notice several stats and needs that slowly deplete over time.
- HP or Health: As the name implies, this is the health status of your character. It can drop if you neglect your other needs, get hurt, or fall ill. HP slowly recovers over time, especially if you rest instead of spending energy working on tasks.
- Energy: This is the resource you will probably spend the most. Energy is required to work on nearly everything in the system. You can recover it by eating or drinking specific items, or by “resting” or “sleeping” on any furniture that contains the Energy script. Keep in mind that Energy also slowly depletes over time if you don’t rest or sleep.
- Hunger: This shows how hungry your character is. The higher the stat, the fuller you are. You can replenish it by eating most foods.
- Thirst: This shows how thirsty your character is. The higher the stat, the more hydrated you are. You can replenish it by consuming most drinks.
- Hygiene: This shows how clean your character is; the higher the stat, the cleaner you are. Certain actions or types of work can lower this stat faster. You can recover it by taking a bath or a shower using any furniture that contains the Hygiene script.
- Continence: This represents your character’s need to use the toilet. The lower the stat, the sooner you need to relieve yourself.
Now that we’ve covered stats and needs, we can move on to the next step.
Clicking the HUD attached to your screen (the one with the Fantasy Life logo) will open the system’s main menu, displaying several options:
The HUD
- Character: This opens all your character information, including your Profile, Attributes, Skills, and Rank.
- Profile: Opens the character profile customization submenu. Here, you can set up your RP name, gender, zodiac sign, and even a role (Roles are unlocked as you level up your skills).
- Attributes: These are your combat stats (more information about this is available on the combat page).
- Skills: Opens a submenu showing all available skills in the system, alongside your current level and XP for each.
- Rank: Opens a page showing your current Life Rank and the time remaining to reach the next one. Life Ranks function essentially as an aging mechanic; your rank increases the longer you keep the system attached and running, rewarding players for staying active and alive.
- Actions: These are actions you can perform at any time, but I highly recommend saving them as a last resort.
- Quick Wash: If you are near Linden water, you can wash yourself to recover your Hygiene stat, but at the cost of a significant amount of Energy.
- Relieve Self: This will recover your Continence stat, but at the cost of a large amount of Hygiene.
- Options: This opens a submenu where you can customize various settings for the system and the HUD.
- Text Color: Changes the color of the hover text displayed above your character’s head.
- Notices: Toggles system chat notices ON or OFF.
- HUD Style: Changes the visual texture of the HUD. There are a few built-in options, but because the HUD is fully modifiable, you can also manually apply any texture you wish.
- Toggle Text: Easily switches the hover text above your head ON or OFF.
Keep in mind that the “System” attachment must always be worn for everything to work. The HUD, however, is completely optional. It is primarily used to easily access the main menu, or to monitor your stats privately if you choose to toggle your hover text OFF.
