🛠Crafting⚒
Crafting can seem a little confusing at first, but once you learn the steps, it becomes very simple.
First, attach the Crafting HUD. This is included with the System when you unpack it.
Once it is attached, you will see a new HUD icon appear on your screen like this: 🛠️.
Click it to open the main crafting menu, which displays two buttons: one to “Craft” and one to close the menu.
When you select “Craft” you will see a list of items you can currently make. Selecting an item will open a new page showing all of its necessary information, including level and tool requirements, Energy cost, and the required materials.
Before confirming the craft, ensure you meet all the requirements and have the necessary materials. Rez these materials as close to your avatar as possible (for example, on the ground or on a table next to you).
Once you confirm the craft, a crafting timer will appear above the 🛠️ HUD icon. When the timer ends, the system will consume the materials you rezzed and deliver the finished item to you.
That covers how to craft basic items using the HUD! However, there are two important things to keep in mind:
- If you walk too far away from your materials during the crafting process, it will be canceled, and you will have to start over.
- The Crafting HUD is only for basic, early-game items. You won’t be able to craft everything with it. As you advance, you will need to build specific workbenches to craft higher-tier items.
Here are the workbenches you will eventually use:
- Basic Workbench: This essentially replaces your Crafting HUD. It includes all the same recipes from the HUD plus new ones, and it allows you to craft items in larger batches. Once you have workbenches, you no longer need to wear the Crafting HUD.
- Advanced Workbench: Just as the Basic Workbench replaces the HUD, this one replaces the Basic Workbench. It features all the previous recipes plus even more advanced ones, and allows for even larger crafting batches.
- Carpentry Workbench: This is used for everything wood-related. Technically, it is not part of the “Crafting” skill category (it uses the Woodworking skill instead), but the mechanics and the crafting process are exactly the same.
- Masonry Workbench: Similar to Carpentry, this workbench is dedicated to everything stone-related. It utilizes the Stoneworking skill rather than Crafting, but the mechanics remain identical.
Something very important to keep in mind is that the Crafting Workbenches consume the materials as soon as the Crafting process is running, if you are sitting on the table and the timer is running, that’s when the materials get consumed, if you get up during that process, before it finishes, you will lose all the materials.
There are other, more advanced mechanics like Blacksmithing, but those are a bit more complex and will be covered on their own dedicated page.
